Will Jeff Gordon Miss The NASCAR Chase?

It has been widely assumed all season that Jeff Gordon would qualify for “Chase for the Championship”.

That assumption no longer exists.

During Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, Gordon blew a tire and ended up finishing in 42nd place.

Now, Gordon has fallen to 9th in the standings and has a mere 82 points seperateing him from the 13th place duo of Clint Bowyer and David Ragan with only 3 races left!

Whew!

Gordon had this to say…

“It’s disappointing because that is the way our season has gone,” Gordon said. “We get the pit stops awesome and we can’t get the car right. So, you know, what are you going to do?”

The bottom line is that even if Gordon does rally to lock himself into the NASCAR Chase, he’s not most likely not going to be a serious threat to win the title.
