At the end of this current NASCAR season, Chevron will no longer sponsor its racing team through its Texaco and Halvoline brands.
As of yet, no statements have been made by Chevron as to why they are ending their sponsorship. The Chip Ganassi Racing Team has been receiving sponsorship from Chevron for the past five years, although the company has actually been involved with NASCAR for the past 20 years.
Recently, Chevron has been changing Texaco. Gas stations with that brand name have been slowly sold off, with a recent announcement to sell about 2000 Texaco gas stations in Brazil for about $730 million. Chevron plans to change its marketing strategy overall, giving a greater focus to local and regional campaigns.
