At Least Kyle Busch Didn’t Win

Race Summary

The Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway was a good race, not too many cautions. Dale Jr. had the strongest car but blew a tire and wound up in the wall. He had to make several pit stops under caution and was penalized for speeding down pit road and sent to the tail end of the lead lap. If he hadn’t of sped he would of been a lap down, so it was a pretty good strategy. He elected to chance it at the end and did not come in for fuel and he and Jeff Gordon drafted some to conserve fuel and both finished in the top 10. Tony Stewart looked to have the race locked up, but with several laps to go, he also blew a tire, which led to Kasey Kahne taking the lead and winning the race. Kasey became only the 5th driver to win both the Allstar Race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway and the Coca-Cola 600 in the same year.

How the day went for the drivers

The winner of the Coke a Cola 600 at Lowe’s motor speedway yesterday was Kasey Kahne. Kasey had lead earlier in the race but had been passed by Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr had a tire go down on him and he ended up hitting the wall landing him at the end of the longest line at the restart. Tony Stewart was slow to restart and those in 11th place and back ended up scattering and hitting one another. Brian Vickers was leading and he had a wheel come off his car, the wheel ended up hitting a fan’s trailer in the infield, no one was hurt not even Brian. Jimmy Johnson’s night ended early with a blown engine. Kurt Bush almost had to sit out the rest as his battery started to die early but his team was able to change the battery and get him back out for a top 10 finish. At the end of the race when everyone else needed to pit for fuel Dale Jr and his teammate Jeff Gordon didn’t have to since they had left pit lane last before the restart they ended up up front in 4th and 5th place instead of 17th and 18th. Tony Stewart looked like he was going to win when his tire went down and sent him to the pits so he ended the race one lap down. Carl Edwards ended his night out of fuel.
